Charter School Advocate To Chair House Education Study Committee

The Indiana State House of Representatives

Behning was the driving force behind several controversial pieces of charter school and education legislation.

91st District Representative Robert Behning will be heading the study committee on education issues, according to a press release issued by Indiana State Speaker of the House Brian Bosma.  During the last session, Behning and Bosma authored a number of controversial education bills, including House Enrolled Act 1002 or “The Charter School Act”.

He has been a big time advocate of market-based reform.  He served as president of the Board of Trustees of the private parochial Lutheran High School of Indianapolis.
