Just a short note to let you know that we completed the search for the WFIU/WTIU News Bureau Chief. Sara Wittmeyer of KBIA at the University of Missouri has accepted the position today. We were impressed by her reporting and her record of involving and mentoring student reporters, forming strong relationships with NPR news, and particularly her multi-platform successes. She combines strong skills in radio, TV and online, and has proven success as an assignment editor across platforms.
On a sadder note, Dan Robison will be leaving us shortly. Dan has blossomed as a reporter, having received numerous awards in the last two years. Several of his stories aired on national Morning Edition. He was snapped up by a station in Buffalo. We’re very sorry to lose him and are preparing to advertise this full-time reporter position.
Arianna Prothero will be leaving us in the fall, but this loss is in the name of love–she’s moving down to Florida to be closer to her boyfriend.
Ann Shea Strahle just left us yesterday to be closer to her husband in Springfield, Illinois. We gave her a grand send-off, and will miss her presence on television and radio. Ann has found it increasingly difficult to shuttle her family across state lines and lead the news bureau at WFIU/WTIU.
Josephine McRobbie will be returning to part-time status late in the summer. She decided to pursue a Master Degree full-time this fall at IU, but wants to keep up her radio skills. We are currently interviewing for her full-time position.
