Noon Edition

New Yorker Staff Writer Jiayang Fan and the Waters Triplets

The hour begins with an interview of Jiayang Fan, a staff writer at The New Yorker magazine, who came to Bloomington to participate in Indiana University’s China Remixed festival. Her articles have focused on China, American politics, and culture, among other topics. She spoke with John K. Yasuda, assistant professor of Chinese politics at IU’s School of Global and International Studies.

You may have heard a conversation a few weeks ago among three Bloomington youngsters—the Waters triplets—on NPR’s StoryCorps. They recorded their conversation in the StoryCorps traveling recording studio when it was in Bloomington in May and June. In this program, we have a different version of the conversation you heard on StoryCorps with the unusual 10-year-olds Zoë, Maddy, and Nick Waters.

Speaking of triplets, the National Triplet Convention is being held this weekend in Cincinnati, Ohio. WFIU’s Aubrey Seader spoke with convention director Kim Jones, herself the mother of triplets—three sons.
