Iditarod Schoolteacher Andrea Hobson Aufder-Heyde (Finney)

Educator Andrea Hobson Aufder-Heyde, known as 'Finney,' to her students, speaks with Profiles about her unusual career as a teacher on the Iditarod trail.

Her real name is Andrea Hobson Aufder-Heyde, and she was the first “Iditarod Teacher on the Trail.” In this capacity, she participated in the Iditarod Sled Dog Race in Alaska. To all the schoolchildren she teaches, Andrea is known as “Finney.” She joins us for a conversation about the Iditarod Sled Dog Race as well as her life and career as teacher and mentor.
