Bernice PescosolidoBernice A. Pescosolido is distinguished Professor of Sociology at Indiana University and Director of the Indiana Consortium for Mental Health Services Research. Her research encompasses three areas: health care services, stigma associated with people who have mental illnesses, and suicide research.

She focuses on how social networks bind humans to one another, influence their lives, and create the institutions that connect them to the places and times in which they live. Books that she has co-written include Mental Health, Social Mirror and Social Networks and Health.
