Jenny Kander reads poems from Lawrence Ferlinghetti’s book These Are My Rivers: New and Selected Poems 1955 – 1993Ferlinghetti is the co-founder of City Lights (magazine, publishing company, and book store in San Francisco), which is considered the heart of the Beat movement.  He is the recipient of numerous awards, including most recently being named Commandeur by the French Order of Arts and Letters in 2007.

Jenny Kander

Jenny Kander, Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Jenny Kander moved to Bloomington in 1992. She received a Masters degree from the University of South Africa, and practiced as a grief counselor for 25 years before retiring in 1994 to focus on writing poetry. In 1999, Jenny began presenting The Poets Weave for WFIU. In her free time, Jenny enjoys writing, gardening, and knitting.
