National Book Award Winner Nikky Finney

Nikky Finney

Nikky Finney was born in South Carolina and came of age during the civil rights and Black Arts Movements.

Co-founder of the Affrilachian Poets, Finney is a Professor of English and creative writing at the University of Kentucky and has authored four books of poetry: On Wings Made of Gauze; Rice; The World Is Round; and Head Off & Split, for which she was awarded the 2011 National Book Award for poetry.
