A bill overhauling the state's criminal code slightly lessens the penalties for marijuana possession in Indiana, but some legislators have said the bill is too soft on drug crimes.
In response, the bill was changed to increase the penalties so they are still lighter than current law, but stricter than the changes originally proposed.
