Jill Bolte-Taylor: The Brain Extravaganza!

In 1996, neuroanatomist Jill Bolte-Taylor experienced a massive stroke that left her unable to speak, walk, read, write, or remember anything from her life prior to its occurrence. It took her eight years to fully recover--but recover she did, and her best-selling memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey, published in 2008, made her one of TIME Magazine's 100 Most Influential People of 2008.

Now, Bolte-Taylor is starting a not-for-profit organization to distribute some of the funds she's earned to community projects that promote brain awareness and education, injury prevention and recovery, and the value of mental and physical health. This week on Noon Edition, we sat down with Jill Bolte-Taylor and Bloomington collaborative art project leader Joe LaMantia to talk about their upcoming project, The Brain Extravaganza!.

Noon Edition airs Fridays at 12:06.
