Gov. Pence's New Drug Task Force

Ninety-percent of all heroin addicts who get clean relapse within the first two years, and most of them in the first six months following treatment.

Indiana ranks 16th highest in the country for all drug overdoses. This week Gov. Mike Pence established a drug task force by executive order, calling the initiative a "collaborative approach to addressing substance abuse."

The task force includes multiple state agencies, representatives from all three branches of government, medical experts and drug treatment and prevention specialists.

This week on Noon Edition we spoke with leaders from around the state about Indiana's drug addiction problem, how communities are responding, and what impact the new task force might have.
