White Nose Syndrome Found in Indiana Bats

Last week, it was announced that White Nose Syndrome has been found on bats in Indiana caves.

White Nose Syndrome is a deadly disease which has killed over a million bats in the U.S. since 2006.

The disease interrupts a bat's hibernation cycle, causing them to burn their winter reserves before spring arrives, usually causing death.

A reduction in the number of bats in the state could cause severe damage to the ecosystem, and mosquito populations could rise dramatically.

Joining us in studio will be bat experts, and an ecologist with an expertise on infectious diseases.
