Changing the School Calendar

columbus_classroom

Students at Brown County Schools and the Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation went back to school this week. Those districts and several other schools around the state are trying out a balanced calendar system this school year, which shortens summer vacation and adds other breaks.

Many schools hope to curb summer learning loss, but others think early start dates do not give students enough time off of school. On this week's Noon Edition, we'll talk with parents and school administrators about changing school calendar systems.

Join us Friday at 12 p.m for our conversation with school administrators and parents. You can visit this site to be part of our live chat, follow us on Twitter @NoonEdition, or join us on the air by calling in at 812-855-0811 or 1-877-285-WFIU.
