“Jazz Impressions of Show Boat” Part 1

Kenny Dorham Show BoatLast Friday evening’s Afterglow program, featuring jazz and jazz-vocal interpretations of Jerome Kern and Oscar Hammerstein’s songs for the musical Show Boat, is now available for online listening. Hour 1 includes Paul Motian’s recent recording of “I Have the Room Above Her,” Kenny Dorham’s take on “Make Believe,” a Lee Wiley-Bing Crosby duet of “I Still Suits Me,” Clifford Brown’s with-strings version of “Can’t Help Lovin’ Dat Man,” and a live broadcast of the Miles Davis Birth of the Cool band performing “Why Do I Love You.”
