There have been a number of acts of vandalism recently targeted towards the Jewish community. Two windows were broken at the Chabad House.

According to the Monroe County Jail, Mark Zacharias has turned himself into police… and posted bond.   Zacharias faces felony charges of institutional criminal mischief. According to IU police… an eyewitness identified Zacharias as a person of interest connected with the smashing of a message board near the Jewish Studies Department in Goodbody Hall.

The Monroe County prosecutor’s office wouldn’t comment on whether Zacharias will face additional charges in connection to the other recent acts of vandalism against Bloomington’s Jewish community, but did say several things are under review.

Zacharias’ initial hearing was waived.  He’ll make his first court appearance at a pre-trial conference on January 31.
