Even before the Commons, Columbus’ downtown mall and gathering place, was torn down more than a year ago, plans to build its successor were in motion. But a city plan to borrow nine million dollars to build the structure was halted earlier this year by a remonstrance. That forced a petition drive, which started last weekend. In the first part of a two-part series, WFIU’s Daniel Robison tags along with the pro-Commons bunch as they try to out-petition the competition.
