There are currently hundreds of wind turbines in northern Indiana, with many more planned for construction.
The extension of wind energy tax credits as part of the ‘fiscal cliff’ bill is good news for wind farm developers in northwest Indiana.
E-on Climate and Renewables completed the first of four phases of what could eventually be the largest wind farm in North America last fall. The tax credits will benefit both E-on, and juwi, which is constructing a wind farm in Tipton County.
A release from E-on says its Tipton and Madison County wind farm can provide electricity for more than 60,000 households.
According to a recent report from the Department of Energy, by 2030, about 20-percent of American energy could come from wind power.
