Bloomington State Representative Peggy Welch says property taxes have dominated the discussions at a series of community meetings she’s been holding over the past two weeks throughout the 60th House district. Welch says her constituents have strong opinions about the topic.
Welch says suggestions have included raising other taxes, such as the sales tax, to pay for local services. She says the joint legislative Commission on State Tax and Financing Policy, of which she is a member, should give their public report on November 13. Welch will hold one more meeting on November 5 at the Indian Creek Township Fire Department.
