Travis is a former council member. She and two other democrats will face a trio of Republican challengers this fall.

Two of three incumbent Democrats on the Monroe County Council won their primaries Tuesday night, with a familiar face unseating the third. At-Large candidates Julie Thomas and Geoff McKim were victorious, but Warren Henegar was unseated by former councilwoman Sophia Travis.

The trio will face off against Republicans Brian Ellison, Skip Daley and Jennifer Mickel this fall.

District Two County Commissioner Mark Stoops easily defeated challenger Randy Paul and will be opposed by Republican Nelson Shaffer in the general election.

Democrat Steve Saulter won 52 percent of the Auditor vote against Hans Huffman. Saulter’s November challenger will be 2008 general election runner-up Vivien Bridges.
