Wallace announced his decision on the steps of Fishers' Town Hall, where he once served on council.

Another Republican threw his hat into the ring in the 2012 governor’s race Tuesday.

Jim Wallace officially kicked off his campaign on the steps of the Fishers Town Hall, where he previously served on the town council. He also is a former Hamilton County Council member. Wallace says his priority now is to work on increasing his name recognition in the state to the same level as fellow candidate, Congressman Mike Pence.

“And then at that point it will be up to the voters to decide,” he said, “do we want economic security or social ideology as our touchstone?”

He says his background in the business world gives him the edge over other candidates. Wallace worked at Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Conseco Health and founded TWG Capital, a financial solutions firm working with the insurance industry.
