Vic Kelson was elected as the Monroe County Council president.

The year’s first Monroe County Council meeting began with Vic Kelson being unanimously elected as County Council president.

Kelson says cutting back the budget will be a primary concern for the council in the coming year. He says they have a plan to get the budget in line with revenues by 2015 but there will be cuts this year as well.

“At this point it looks about half a million dollars in cuts relative to this year in the upcoming budget,” Kelson says.

The council also moved to censure the auditor’s office over misuse of county credit cards. The auditor was not present at the meeting.

Now that Kelson has been arrested, why don’t we cut the budget, starting with his salary?

Thanks for being such an upstanding model of citizenry!
