Unpaid Chrysler Taxes Could Result in Howard Co. 10-Year Debt

Following General Motors’ purchase of Delphi’s facilities in Kokomo, the company has agreed to pay Howard County more than $11 million it owes in back taxes. But Chrysler, which recently went through bankruptcy, says they don’t have to pay the county nearly $13 million owed to the county. As WFIU’s Daniel Robison reports, county officials will use Delphi’s money to pay back cash the county borrowed from the state, but are not sold on the prospect of taking out a new, even larger loan at the same time to cover Chrysler’s debts.
