Former Treasury Secretary Paul O'Neill recently gave a sizable donation to SPEA, of which he is a graduate.
Paul O’Neill served in George W. Bush’s administration and earned his master’s degree in public affairs from IU. SPEA Dean John Graham says O’Neill visits his alma mater often.
“He actually is in a pattern right now coming back to IU once or twice a year because he likes to interact with the students and faculty,” Graham says.
O’Neill is scheduled to deliver a presentation for SPEA faculty and students. Graham says O’Neill will discuss what he believes to be America’s fiscal crisis.
“He talks to students about the nature of the problem and what the options are to solve it. He takes a lot of time answering questions from students and talking to them about it,” Graham says.
O’Neill recently donated $100,000 for the creation of the Lynton Caldwell Professorship of International Studies at SPEA.
