An overnight train derailment is under investigation in Bloomington.
The Monroe County Sheriff‘s Department says six cars left the track and the impact knocked down power lines in the area, causing several residents to lose electricity.
No injuries were reported. The train was carrying coal from Carlyle, Indiana to Indianapolis.
WTHR reports the derailment was in the 6100 block of East State Road 45 near Russell Road, northeast of Bloomington.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the train consisting of 101 coal cars left the tracks around 2:00 a.m. Wednesday.
There were no injuries and no other vehicles were involved. Only six of cars actually left the tracks, so officials are hoping cleanup will present few issues.
