Ninth District Congressman Todd Young is running for re-election this year.
Congress is out of session this week, which means Ninth-District Representative Todd Young is back in Bloomington meeting with constituents. Young says he heard from residents about a variety of issues, ranging from foreign policy to the rising cost of health care.
“We’ve heard some issues today I haven’t heard a lot about traveling around the ninth congressional district, so that’s one of the reasons we do this meeting,” he says. “So that I can get some additional issues I don’t typically get on my radar.”
One of those constituents who sought some one-on-one time with the Congressman was Rob Deppert. He wanted to advocate for an amendment to the Constitution that would overturn the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision.
“He was skeptical about a constitutional amendment that would overturn what Citizens United the two precedents it created which were that speech is equal to money and that corporations are basically people.“
Young faces Regina Parrella-DeWilde in the Republican primary. Five Democrats are vying for the democratic nomination.
