Thousands Without Power After Severe Weather

Close to 11,000 Indiana residents lost power during severe weather Thursday night, including wind guests over 70 mph and tornado watches.

Thousands of Central Indiana residents were without power following severe weather Thursday night.

Severe weather moved across the state Thursday evening, leaving thousands without power.

High winds and heavy rain accompanied the storms, prompting tornado watches and severe thunderstorm warnings. There were reports of strong wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour as the system moved through the state.

Indianapolis Power & Light reported almost 8,000 homes and businesses without power in Indianapolis. Duke Energy reported almost 3,000, with the majority of outages in Bartholomew, Boone and Hamilton counties.
