This Week The Last For Public Input On Sustainability Report

This is the last week for members of the public to provide input on a sustainability report aimed to help shape the management of resources on the IU campus.

This is the last week for members of the public to provide their input on a report drafted by the Indiana University Sustainability Task Force. The task force members hope that document will help shape the future management of resources on the IU campus.

Co-chair Michael Hamburger is a professor of geological sciences at IU. He says the main goal of environmental sustainability is to provide for the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations. He says that some of the ways the campus can improve sustainability involve energy conservation, enhanced recycling efforts, and serving local foods in the university dining halls.

Hamburger says that the task force plans on having a final version of the report ready by the end of this year. In the meantime they will be taking public comment through December 15.
