According to Modern Healthcare magazine, Terre Haute’s Union Hospital provides one of the country’s best work environments for its employees. The hospital has been recognized for its employment opportunities and is ranked 18th out of the nation’s large companies in the “2010 Best Places to Work in Healthcare” ranking. Public Relations manager Kristi Roshel said the employees were the ones to give the magazine the scoop.
“Our employees were actually surveyed for this award so it’s their opinion of Union Hospital that got us so high in the rankings,” she said.
Modern Healthcare editor Dave Burda says 328 companies participated in the survey. Union Hospital employees answered questions such as, ‘What do you love most about your organization?’ and ‘How many training hours does the organization complete annually?’ He said the magazine hopes to raise the bar for all employers by profiling the healthcare facilities that provide the best services.
“The reason we do it is to recognize work environments in the health care industry that foster an atmosphere that ultimately benefits patients,” said Burda.
Union Hospital was also ranked 14th in a ranking of the “Best Places to Work in Indiana” assembled by a group including the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Inside Indiana Business.
