A spokesman for HealthSouth Hospital in Terre Haute has confirmed that its long-term acute care facility will be closing in a couple of months. Rob Warfuel says the 60-bed acute care facility on St. Anthony Driver is slated to shut down October 4th. Warfuel cited “various reasons” related to market conditions as the cause of the closure. He said recently-passed legislation would adversely affect the facility’s bottom line by roughly 1.8 million dollars. The hospital unit employs about 80 people, and a spokeswoman says they will be offered employment possibilities elsewhere. The HealthSouth acute care facility has 15 patients registered at present. A spokeswoman for HealthSouth says they should all be discharged by the end of the month.
