The vast majority of House lawmakers approved a bill Wednesday to legalize baby boxes in hospitals – over the objections of the Department of Child Services.
The original bill’s author says the move is a “backup plan.”
Some parents have alleged the Department of Child Services has not provided enough preventative services to mentally challenged children.
Under current Indiana law, there is a 60 day waiting period.
