INDOT Commissioner Karl Browning doesn't recommend raising the gas tax but says an increasing number of bridges and roads in the state are in poor condition.
Indiana's highway commissioner is encouraging the state to allocate funds to repair hundreds of bridges over the next 10 years.
The agreement includes monthly payments from INDOT and communities along the route to keep the existing service for one year.
Karl Browning previously served as INDOT Commissioner from 2006 to 2009 under former Governor Mitch Daniels.
