The monthly jobs report shows Indiana's unemployment rate rose to 8.2 percent even though the private sector jobs added thousands of jobs.
Indiana‘s unemployment rate stood at 7.7 percent for April this year compared to 8.5 percent in April 2011.
However, with the improved unemployment rate, Indiana is no longer eligible for the last 20 weeks of federal unemployment benefits.
The employment snapshot of 13 metro areas across Indiana shows unemployment rates dropping since last September.
