This past Friday the Twin Lakes Recreation Center welcomed the summer with both physical fitness and fun.
Front desk Supervisor Kyleigh Clouse said, “This is the summer Jamboree, it’s a kick off to the summer as well as a celebration.” The Bloomington Parks and Recreation Department hopes the event will promote healthy physical activity for the summer.
“We are promoting our memberships, we are promoting our soccer leagues leading into the fall, we are promoting healthy lifestyles,” said Clouse. The Jamboree offered all types of active movement sports and activities for the kids.
“I played soccer, and basketball, and got my face painted like a cheetah,” said Paige Osborne, a child at the Jamboree. The event was filled with obstacle courses and games throughout the facility.
Parent TJ McMurray said, “My daughter Sophia has been going in the bouncy house and running the obstacle course, and is just running around in circles having fun with all of the other little kids.”
With high levels of both fitness and fun the event calls for an excellent summer ahead, and the beginning of a new Bloomington tradition.
