Update 12:13 p.m.

SR 37 is moving again, but slowly. Right now, one lane is open, so take your time if you need to travel on it. Officials from the ISP, INDOT, and local municipalities are all warning residents to stay in, unless it is an emergency.

Update 9:23 a.m.

Roads in the Bloomington area are snow covered, very slick and extremely hazardous.

State Road 37, southbound at the Monroe Morgan County line is at a stand still. There are approximately 40 cars stuck in the snow. INDOT is en route but clean up may take one to two hours.

Original post

As the snow is falling across Indiana a blizzard warning remains in effect. Road conditions are currently slick and hazardous in Southern Indiana.

State police report that the wind is a big problem and is causing white-out conditions in many areas. The rain that changed into ice before the snowfall is also making travel dangerous.

Travel is not advised unless absolutely necessary. People are advised to not call city, county or state police to check on road conditions.

Instead, motorists can go to www.trafficwise.in.gov or call 1-800 261-7623. It has up to date information on the road conditions not only for the state of Indiana, but also to other states in the Midwest.
