Spierer’s Parents Hope For Results From Landfill Search

The Spierers are leaving for New York but say they will return to Bloomington.

As the FBI and other agencies began their search of a Vigo County landfill as part of the investigation into the disappearance of missing IU student Lauren Spierer, Spierer’s parents were also at the Sycamore Ridge landfill Tuesday.

Charlene Spierer says they are hoping any kind of information comes their way because of the search.

“We don’t know what we’re going to find or if we’re going to find anything at the landfill,” she said. “It could be a clue. It could be evidence. We just don’t know, but of course, I would give anything to have one minute with Lauren, so my hope is that she is still alive.”

Robert Spierer says he is upset with Lauren’s friends who last saw his daughter.

“The folks who were with her the night she disappeared left town shortly after her disappearance,” he said. “We’ve not had any meaningful contact with them since they left.

The Spierers, who have been in Bloomington for the past two months, say they will be returning to New York today but will return to Bloomington.
