The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Ft. Wayne is a part of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend.
The Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend filed a lawsuit Monday against the Obama administration’s new insurance coverage mandates.
The diocese joins at least 40 other Roman Catholic entities around the nation who argue the mandates are unconstitutional because they infringe on religious freedom. The University of Notre Dame also filed a similar suit in federal court.
At issue is the health reform mandate that requires most employers or their insurers to cover services that are contrary to Catholic teaching, including birth control.
