Shelli Yoder has won the U.S. House 9th District primary with 46 percent of the vote. The runner-up was Robert Winningham with 21 percent.
During her victory speech, Yoder thanked her supporters and expressed dismay with the dysfunction in Congress.
“They need a voice in Washington somebody who’s fighting for working families in the 9th district,” she says, later adding that working families “don’t feel like those questions and those concerns are being addressed in Washington and that’s what this campaign is about.”
Yoder is known for her role as former Miss Indiana. She currently works as Associate Director of Professional Development with Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
