Severe Weather Update, Storm Reports

A thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10:00 p.m. for far southern Indiana.

A few thunderstorms may linger into this evening across the south.

4:40 p.m. UPDATE

Officials at the National Weather Service have canceled most of the severe thunderstorm watch for southern Indiana. Dubois, Orange, Scott and Washington counties are still under the watch until 10:00 p.m. in our broadcast area.

3:40 p.m. UPDATE

Bloomington Transit reporting some bus delays due to flash flooding.

Duke Energy working to restore just more than 2,000 power outages, 763 in Monroe County.

3:22 p.m. UPDATE

Forecasters at the National Weather Service in Indianapolis say a cold front over northern Illinois will continue to move southeast across south central Indiana. Scattered thunderstorms may develop ahead of the cold front along with a few severe storms.

The tornado warning for southern Monroe County earlier today was radar indicated with rotating winds. Trained spotters reported 1.25 inch tree limbs down 2 miles east of Bloomington due to 60 mph wind gusts.

The fire department in Greene County also reported 60 mph wind gusts near Switz City causing tree damage.

Emergency managers in Columbus say thunderstorm winds are to blame for wires down on North Talley and Rockyford roads.

A thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for most of southern Indiana.
