For sixty years, Carnegie was the voice of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
A tribute is scheduled for this afternoon for the legendary voice of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Tom Carnegie. The service is scheduled at 4:30 at the I.M.S. Hall of Fame Museum. Carnegie died Friday at age 91. He retired in 2006 as the Speedway’s public address announcer. The original plan to hold the event on the track was abandoned because of ice. A private funeral was held Monday at the Hoosier Village Retirement Center. A memorial will remain in place at the museum though the end of the month.
