The map is similar to ones the public can make at three IU libraries.
Indiana Senate Democrats released their proposed redistricting maps Wednesday. Senator Minority Leader Vi Simpson said their maps promote good government.
“We really wanted to focus in on,” she said “what we call the three C’s: districts that are compact, districts that respect the communities of interest and districts that are competitive.”
Simpson said Senate Democrats still hope redistricting will be decided by a non-partisan commission, but because Senate Republicans continue to reject that idea, Democrats felt compelled to move forward with map proposals.
