The surface of Europa is covered with ice sheets, which constantly shift and crack.

Scientists say the building blocks of DNA found in meteorites definitely came from outer space. Butler University physics and astronomy professor Brian Murphy says the building blocks, or nucleobases, were found in meteorites that hit the earth.

Murphy says since the nucleobases came from outer space, it‘s likely that most of, if not all, the other planets should have them as well.

He says just because the building blocks for life may be on other planets, that doesn‘t necessarily mean life itself is there. Although, he says with a moon such as Europa, which orbits Jupiter, that has an icy surface and hot core, the possibility of life is there. He adds that will be the focus of many space missions in the future.
