The former treasurer of MCS is accused of mishandling more than $85,000.
The former Treasurer of the Mitchell Community School Corporation was arrested earlier this morning for alleged corrupt business influence.
According to the Indiana State Police, Kathy Kirk is accused of misappropriating more than $85,000 of school funds. The arrest comes after a six month investigation by the Indiana State Board of Accounts and the I.S.P.
Kirk surrendered herself on three warrants that a Lawrence County Court had issued in this case. Kirk was incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail and is being held on a $20,000 bond.
