Salvation Army Kicks Off Kettle Campaign

The Salvation Army hopes to raise $265,000 this year during its Kettle campaign.

Business and community leaders gathered today at the Bloomington Convention Center for The Salvation Army’s annual Kettle Kickoff. This year’s goal is $265,000.

Women’s basketball head coach Felicia Leggette-Jack says she hopes people give as much as they can.

“There’s so many things you can do, when you see those little bells and the kettles at the grocery store,” she says. “Don’t pretend you don’t see them. Just flop something in there, give them your heart, give your time, you know, give whatever you can. Give your clothes that you don’t use, you don’t need twelve pair shoes, you can give up four of them if you want.”

The money raised goes back into the community in the form of food, clothing, and medical assistance for needy families.
