Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology will need a new president exactly three years after it inaugurated its last one. Current President Gerald Jakubowski has announced he will step down on June 30th, citing personal reasons.
Rose-Hulman Board of Trustees President Bob Bright said he spoke to Jakubowski soon after learning the former Arizona State University administrator would leave the Terre Haute campus, but did not inquire further about how the president came to his decision. Bright said he has not made any recommendations to the Trustees about how to go forward, but will get his chance soon.
“We have a board meeting coming up this week that was already scheduled,” Bright said. “We will deliberate significantly as a full board as to what that plan needs to be, not only the process, but the timing.”
Jakubowski took office on July 1, 2006, after beating out former Rose-Hulman professor, and then-Auburn University Vice President Tom Hanley for the job. University officials said Jakubowski is traveling and could not be reached for comment.
