Todd Rokita, finding apartment prices in Washington, D.C. to be elevated, will save cash by sleeping in his office.
Newly-minted Republican congressman Todd Rokita is choosing an increasingly common way to cut his own spending: he’ll sleep in his office. Rather than searching for an apartment in Washington, Rokita will bed down in his office and then commute back and forth from Indiana on weekends.
“It’s no political student or anything like that,” Rokita said. “It’s just that we looked at a 600-square foot studio near the Hill and it’s over $2000 a month.”
Rokita said his only concern with the plan will come when someone on staff decides to arrive early to work.
