Robert E. Lee served 25 years of a 60-year sentence for a brutal murder.
The man convicted of brutally murdering a Bloomington woman more than 20 years ago is no longer living in Monroe County.
The Department of Corrections transferred Robert Lee to a Bloomington location after his release Saturday, but DOC spokeswoman Amy Lanum says Lee was moved Monday to Jennings County.
“Due to the large amount of public attention, the place where we had placed him at and had agreed to let him stay there requested that he be moved,” she says.
Lee was originally placed in Bloomington because that is the last place he lived, but Lanum says exceptions can be made if there is trouble finding placement. She also says the Bloomington parole District covers Jennings County, so Lee will remain with his assigned parole officer.
“He will still be strictly supervised by the Bloomington parole district and closely monitored on GPS,” she says. “He will also have to register with the Jennings County sheriff’s department.”
Lee is serving one year of parole. He will also be registered as a sex offender.
