Nick Goepper, a native of Lawrenceburg, Ind., won the bronze medal for freestyle skiing men’s slopestyle today at the Sochi Olympic Games.

Goepper was favored to win the gold medal going into the competition after winning the X Games both last month and in 2013.

Goepper joined fellow American skiiers Joss Christensen and Gus Kenworthy at the podium this morning, who won the gold and silver medals, respectively.

Christenson took the top spot with a score of 95.80 followed by Kenworthy’s 93.60. Goepper’s first run with a score of 92.40 got him the bronze medal, his second run was scored 61.8.

This is only the third time in Winter Olympic history that a United States team has swept the medals in one event.
