A funeral service is being held tonight at 7 p.m. for Andrew Boldt, the Purdue University student and teaching assistant who was killed in an on-campus shooting last week.
Three charter buses filled with more than 75 students made the nearly four-hour trip to Boldt’s hometown of West Bend, Wis., today so the students could attend the ceremony.
Purdue student E.J. Williams says Boldt was his teaching assistant in an Electrical and Computer Engineering class.
“He is definitely the TA everyone would go to for assistance,” Williams says. “He was always willing to help. Combined with the fact that he was really smart and the fact that he really enjoyed teaching, made him one of the best students on campus.”
Purdue is also organizing a Day of Healing on Friday.
Students will be able to interact with therapy dogs and talk to counselors from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Recreational Sports Center.
The suspected shooter, Purdue student Cody Cousins is being held in the Tippecanoe County Jail without bond on a murder charge.
