Bloomington's Project School will remain open, as it has better test scores than its Indianapolis counterpart.
An Indianapolis charter school is asking for an injunction to keep the school open. Mayor Greg Ballard announced last week he was revoking the Project School’s charter based on poor student performance and financial problems.
Both the school‘s board of directors and parents are asking a court to block the closure for one year, claiming the school was not afforded due process. The groups want the time so the school can be allowed to evaluate and correct its problems.
The board says the school was never given the time or opportunity to respond to the mayor‘s action, as allowed by law.
