A pro soccer team is coming to Indianapolis. The yet-to-be-named team will begin play at IUPUI‘s Michael Carroll Stadium in 2014.
The team‘s owner is Keystone Group CEO Ersal Ozdemir who played soccer in his native Turkey before moving to Indiana 20 years ago. He says it will be a long road and the team needs support
“I‘m very confident that this is going to be a great team that you‘re going to enjoy, and I commit to all of you here and in the rest of the state that we will do whatever it takes to make this team a great team you will be proud of for years to come,” he says.
The team will be the 12th to compete in the North American Soccer League.
Ozdemir and team president Peter Wilt have met with stakeholders across the state to gain support for the team. A team coach will be named later this year, followed by player selection.
The team website is also the place where fans can go to name the team, and pick its colors. The names to choose from are Indianapolis AC (Athletic Club), United, Majestic and Speed.
