Bloomington packing company Printpack is seeking a 10-year tax abatement for an expansion of its business into Monroe County. The company has threatened to leave the community if the abatement is not awarded. In response, the Monroe County Council has drafted a memorandum of understanding along with an abatement offer. Not all want to grant the abatement, but if it’s going to happen, the majority of the council agrees the memorandum will need to bind the company to certain conditions.
